My Grandpa Sterling

My Dad's Dad, passed away on Tuesday. He was such a good Grandpa. He was an artist, he used mostly oil on canvass, he made jewelry, he survived a war, he loved his wife and kids and grandkids. My memory assosiations are alway triggerd by, planters peanuts and cheese balls, pretzel sticks, art, especially desert scenes, Royal Copenhagen, turqoise, my cleft palate he has one too. He donated his body to science. He was always telling jokes. He said I was beautiful. He made us jewelry. He was unbiased. He was brave and quietly endured a bunch of pain from jungle rot, they didn't have a cure for it for over 30 years, he treated that leg for that long before a cure came. He was in the hopital with Mallaria, the hospital got bombed and the guy next to him got hit and part of that guys body became shrapnel and landed in my Grandpa's leg. He loved to fish and I am pretty sure all of his kids and lots of his grandkids inherited that, when I was kid I used to fantasize about the sweet rig I would have for fishin, of my very own, and my rad gator's that I would wear, I still think about that. I miss him, but he was ready, and I know he is up there talking to Tchaichovski and Bach and Joseph Smith and President Hinckley and Bill Ross and maybe my sister's kid, and my future offspring. He was always so good to me as a kid and feel blessed to have had such a cool Grampa. As a kid he and my Grandma Mi Mi really helped me to keep it together when I felt like giving up, they alway told me I was a "smart cookie or carrot." I love gardens too because of them, they are both avid gardeners. And he is one of the many hard workers in our family. I know he will continue to work hard. I love him, I wish I had the ability to write well, so I could really write how I feel. I love him, that's what I want to say, I love my Grampa.

August 20th, 2008

My Birthday was awesome, Gator took the day off, Joey took me too lunch at Flour Girls and Dough Boys in AF, it was so good, we had some lovely Creamy tomato soup and samies and brownies. And then I got to sew a bunch of squares for the quilts I am working on, and then Gator took me out for dinner at this swanky place in Thanksgiving point called Harvest I think. The food was lovely but my fish and his bird were over cooked, but, On Man, the appetizers were good, and the bread was heavenly.
So that was Monday, on Thursday took the kids and my Mom to Lagoon, we had so much fun! Lagoon has added a bunch of kiddie rides and we rode them all. We went to Lagoona Beach, Ira was so crazy, he would just launch into the water over and over, so crazy, he just loved it, but I was so worried, I just had to hover over him, he didn't want me to hold his hand or help him in any way, so I just kinda cushioned the falls, he scraped his knee and just kept going. Maggie loved the rides, the scarier the better, we went on the kid coaster together and I watched her as much as I could and her face was so amazed, then we get off and she looks up at me and says "Mom that scared me out of my MIND!!" So cute. Kimble was very serious about most of it, he would judge the rides, scary, fun or awesome. He rode the most since he's the tallest and he was very brave and adorable. We just loved the whole day. Ira was such a good kid, we had him up and going all day and he just took it.
Kimble had his first day of school and he did not really like it, he got lost at recess. The second day he came home and said he did not get lost and it was an alright day, he likes his teacher and she was crazy and fun. Today he got in the car totally hopped up and when he sat down at the counter at home he said he loved school. AMAZING!!! Yippee.
We had our second soccer game today and I asked a Dad, Jeff, to assistant coach, he is so cool. We scored more points but you aren't supposed to keep track, which I didn't but the other team's coach's were sure to keep very close tabs on what was going on, they were driving me nuts! But we have a great team, the kids on our team are so dang cool. I really like this whole soccer thing.
Ira started crossing his fingers and he is watching sign for up to 5 minutes at a time, so now were are trying to go for more time attending. He really loves to throw stuff at people, we don't really love that. We sign no throw, but he thinks it's funny, we are hoping he will stop the throwing asap.
